The Moen 1222 is the replacement cartridge for single-handle Moen tub-and-shower valves built with the Posi-Temp pressure-balancing anti-scald system – the most common single-handle shower valve installed in U.S. homes since the early 1990s. If your shower drips from the head when off, the water temperature drifts hot or cold during use, or the handle has become hard to turn, this cartridge is the fix. Tools required: Moen 104421 cartridge-puller tool (highly recommended), Phillips screwdriver, needle-nose pliers. Install time: 30-45 minutes for a first-timer.
