Description
The pop-up drain is the mechanism you push or pull to open and close a bathroom sink. The Oatey 38805 is a complete brass pop-up assembly to replace one that has stopped working — when the stopper sticks, the lift rod has corroded, water drains slowly past a closed stopper, or the body leaks under the sink.
Its brass construction outlasts the chrome-plated zinc assemblies sold at big-box stores, which tend to corrode and seize within a few years.
Replacing it means disconnecting the old drain body under the sink and sealing the new flange to the basin — a moderate DIY job that is very doable with channel-lock pliers and a little patience.
