It is a universal fit for standard residential shower drains, which are about 3-1/4 inches across. Replace yours when the existing strainer has rusted, gone missing, or been removed — a missing strainer lets hair wash straight into the trap, which is the most common cause of a slow shower drain.
It drops into place with no tools and no plumbing, making it one of the cheapest and most effective preventive measures you can add to a shower. Stainless steel will not rust like the plated strainers it replaces, and clearing the caught hair from it every week or two heads off the clog before it forms.
