Macerating Toilet Parts: Which Membrane, Microswitch and Kit Fit Your Unit

A macerating toilet's pump unit with the lid off, a membrane and a microswitch laid beside it, illustrating macerating toilet parts

Your macerating toilet runs on, hums, or will not start, and the parts seller asks three questions you cannot answer yet: round or oval membrane, which microswitch, which service kit. Macerating toilet parts are sold by model, by market and sometimes by generation, so the name on the unit is the start of the lookup, not the end. This page shows where to find the label, what the makers’ own catalogs list for each unit, where the sources disagree, and when the honest answer is to call the maker or a service agent instead of ordering.

The short version: confirm the exact model and configuration, match it to a maker catalog for your country, and treat every dealer date range and “fits all” claim as a lead to check, not a fact.

Find the Model and Label Before You Order

Do not carry a part number across generations or countries just because the model name matches. Saniflo’s Canadian and UK catalogs for the Saniaccess 2 list different parts for the same model name (Canada, UK), and no North American serial-number table was found that settles every installed unit’s configuration.

What the sources do say about identifying a unit:

  • Label position. According to the parts dealer UpFlushers, labels are typically on the back or bottom of the unit, and it asks for photos of the unit and label, the serial number and the approximate installation year (UpFlushers identification guide). Model-specific label positions for most units were not found.
  • Sanicompact 4C. Its manual locates the manufacturing label in the motor case at the back (Sanicompact 4C manual). That is one documented configuration, so do not assume it for every C4, C48 or Comfort.
  • Liberty Ascent II. Liberty’s instructions tell owners to record the model, serial number and code from the pump nameplate, and its older manual identifies the CODE as the manufacture date (Liberty older manual). No digit-decoding rule was found.
  • Saniplus. Its manual illustrates the designation SANIPLUS 2, 115 V/60 Hz (Saniplus manual).
  • Family tells. Saniaccess 3 has two service panels, and Sanigrind Pro has a conventional bottom-outlet toilet connection (Saniaccess 3, Sanigrind Pro). These separate product families, not production years.

Record the installation year separately from the manufacture date. Saniflo’s own assistance form asks for the model, purchase date and installation photographs (Saniflo after-sales form).

One scope check: according to Saniflo’s FAQ, Sanishower, Sanivite and Saniswift are gray-water pumps and do not accept toilet discharge (Saniflo FAQ). If you have one of those, this page is not about your unit.

Macerating Toilet Parts: The Chart

The first table lists part identities confirmed in Saniflo Canada’s catalogs and in Liberty’s documentation. The limits in the last column matter as much as the numbers.

Unit Membrane and clip Microswitch Capacitor Limit of what is confirmed
Saniplus (Canadian catalog) SI200184 membrane, VA100144 half-clip SA100125 IT200150, 45 µF No maker-stated North American generation cutoff was found (Saniplus catalog, page 2)
Saniaccess 3 (Canadian catalog) BL120741 round membrane, BL120624 half-round clip SA100125 IT200150, 45 µF UK catalog lists a different capacitor and switch; see below (Canada, UK)
Sanigrind Pro Not confirmed Not confirmed 60 µF specification The Canadian catalog lists capacitor CO100185 at 60 µF (Canadian parts)
Liberty Ascent II No separate membrane found IST solid-state switching (Liberty product documentation); K001366 control system (Liberty B69 breakdown) Not found separately Liberty’s B69 breakdown lists control and pump assemblies, not a Saniflo cross-reference (Liberty B69 breakdown)

A manufacturer’s model-level listing shows a catalog application. It does not give production dates or serial-number coverage unless it says so.

The second table draws on single sources: Saniflo Canada’s catalog pages and UpFlushers’ model pages. Dealer date ranges are the seller’s groupings, not manufacturer production boundaries. Confirm each row against the maker’s page for your model.

Where the sources conflict, the page does not pick a winner:

  • Saniplus timeline. UpFlushers’ parts pages group the Saniplus as 2003–2009 and 2010–Current. Its own identification blog uses a different four-stage scheme with approximate dates. Neither has a supporting manufacturer serial table, so there is no authoritative generation timeline here (UpFlushers Saniplus families).
  • SI200184 shape. One UpFlushers listing describes SI200184 as round. Saniflo’s French parts site identifies it as oval (SFA parts page). Go by the maker’s oval identification. Whether one oval membrane fits every Saniplus generation is unresolved: SanifloStore advertises its oval membrane for all generations (SanifloStore), while the UpFlushers blog claims internal differences across generations.
  • Part numbers. A retailer spells the oval membrane S1200184, while the maker spells it SI200184. No source states they are the same part. AU010256 and BL120741 also both appear in sources, with no North American equivalence stated.
  • Saniaccess switch. Saniflo Canada lists SA100125 for the Saniaccess 2 and 3 (Canada Saniaccess 2, Canada Saniaccess 3); Saniflo’s UK catalog lists SA100155 (UK Saniaccess 2, UK Saniaccess 3). SupplyHouse lists the Saniaccess 2 and 3 under the oval SI200184 (SupplyHouse). Saniflo’s own Saniaccess 3 catalogs list the round BL120741 membrane instead (Canada Saniaccess 3, UK Saniaccess 3). Prefer the maker’s page for your model and your installed configuration.
  • Sanicompact electronics. Canadian CO200155 and AC120136 listings and the dealer’s round-motor IT200155 and AC120189 listings come with no stated supersession rule. No page authorizes one board or capacitor for every Sanicompact.

Service Kits Are Regional Dealer Packages

A search result may offer “Saniflo Service Kit 1, 2 or 3.” According to one UK genuine-parts dealer, these are its own numbered packages (Kit 1, Kit 2, Kit 3):

Package Advertised contents Advertised fitment
Kit 1 SA100155 switch, SI200184 oval membrane, EM120160 small filter, two VA100144 half-clips Saniflo, Sanitop, Sanivite, Sanispeed (Kit 1)
Kit 2 Switch printed as SA00125, SI200184, EM120160, two VA100144 half-clips Sanipro, Saniplus, Sanislim, Sanipack, Sanishower
Kit 3 Switch printed as SA00125, BL120741 circular membrane, EM120190 large filter, two BL120624 half-clips Sanibest; another page from the same seller says Sanibest Pro UP

North American manufacturer recognition of these kits was not found. The dealer prints SA00125, not SA100125, and the two should not be silently merged. Two more packages show why quantity and contents matter. According to the French Saniflo parts site, MEMBCLIP contains one SI200184 oval membrane and two VA100144 half-clips, with no switch or filter (MEMBCLIP). And BL120624 is sold as an individual half-clip, so check how many you are buying.

Symptom to Part: What the Makers Say

A symptom narrows the diagnosis. It does not by itself pick a part. Manufacturer troubleshooting beats forum diagnoses, and a repeated start is not automatically a failed switch. According to Liberty’s current manual, unexplained pulsing must be told apart from cycling while a fixture drains (Liberty current manual).

Symptom Possibilities the maker lists Source
Saniplus hums without turning Blocked blades or a defective capacitor Saniplus troubleshooting
Saniplus runs for a long time Blocked or kinked discharge, damaged membrane, defective impeller or partial pump blockage Saniplus troubleshooting
Saniplus restarts after evacuation Returning water or a non-functioning check valve Saniplus troubleshooting
Sanibest Pro starts on its own Dripping tank or taps, or a faulty non-return valve Sanibest Pro manual
Sanibest Pro hums without running Capacitor or motor fault; motor inspection by a service engineer Sanibest Pro manual
Ascent II hums, solid green light Jammed cutter or impeller, or an internal motor problem Liberty older manual
Ascent II will not start, flashing green light Cover safety switch not activated Liberty older manual
Ascent II pulses without use Tank leakage or check-valve failure Liberty older manual

The research found no North American maker instruction that ties continuous running or failure to start to a failed microswitch. SanifloStore, a retailer, says water scale or bleach can deform a membrane so the pump does not operate as it should, such as being slow to turn on or off (SanifloStore). Leaks or smells alone were not established as a lid-gasket diagnosis, and AU010121 is a pan gasket, not the lid seal (Saniflo Canada Saniplus catalog).

For a unit that shows no indicator, Liberty’s manual says to check the supply first, then try a battery-protection reset: unplug, remove the alarm battery, reconnect power, reinstall the battery. According to Saniflo’s Sanicompact page, the toilet button runs a timed cycle while sink drainage triggers automatic pumping, so different behavior can point to different causes (Sanicompact).

What to Open, and What Not To

Disconnect power and follow the model-specific procedure. The Saniplus removal instructions include shutting off water, isolating the discharge where possible and removing residual water. According to the Saniplus manual, the unit must not run with its lid removed and its oil-filled motor assembly must not be dismantled. Liberty warns against reaching into the toilet inlet even when unplugged, because of sharp cutters.

Service restrictions apply even when parts are sold. Sanibest Pro’s manual reserves dismantling for an approved repair agent, and Liberty requires prior factory approval for repairs during the warranty period. The Sanicompact 4C manual reserves motor removal for qualified personnel.

Procedures differ by model. Older Liberty documentation specifies clockwise removal of a left-handed impeller thread, while the Saniplus manual specifies counterclockwise. Sanibest Pro prohibits bleach, and that rule should not be applied to every system. Whether to use a service panel or lift the whole unit out is a place where professional opinions vary. The manual for your model and the fault you diagnosed decide it. Impeller direction, approved cleaners, electrical isolation and warranty authorization are not matters of opinion.

Parts That Do Not Automatically Substitute

A supplier’s compatibility claim is not manufacturer approval. Uniflo’s UF105 switch is advertised for all Saniflo domestic macerators, but no Saniflo cross-reference resolves the different switch references in the tables above (Uniflo UF105). Nothing found supports universal interchangeability for aftermarket switches, membranes or capacitors.

Capacitor values stay with the model and market. The confirmed North American 45 µF listings do not justify putting that value into a 60 µF application. Saniflo’s UK catalog lists 10 µF for the Saniaccess 3 (UK Saniaccess 3), against 45 µF in the Canadian catalog (Canada Saniaccess 3, page 2), which shows regional specifications differ.

According to Uniflo, its UF104 oval membrane fits named models including Saniplus, Sanislim, Sanipro XR, Sanitop, Sanishower and Sanipro. It also lists a UF103 membrane, clip and switch kit, and a UF153 Service Kit 1 (UF104, UF103, UF153). These are supplier claims, and UF153 is a different package from the dealer’s Kit 1. The UK dealer behind Kit 1 warns that switch strength is model-specific and wrong parts can damage the machine.

A blanket “no aftermarket parts” rule would overstate the evidence. Liberty’s older instructions describe common two-hole utility-style razor blades and recommend stainless steel, and its current instructions recommend K001370 or an equivalent substitute. That covers blades for the Ascent II. It does not extend to Saniflo electrical parts.

When the Unit, Not the Part, Is the Answer

Age and a discontinued model do not prove that parts are gone. According to dealers and a Saniflo Product Expert answer on RONA, the Sanistar is discontinued, with the Sanicompact Comfort named as the replacement (Sanistar replacement, RONA expert answer). Yet Saniflo Canada still lists Sanistar motor, capacitor, valve and board parts (Saniflo Canada Sanistar catalog). The specific unavailable-part statement found was the Saniplus GBSN valve (the dealer points to CMBSAV). It does not show a whole model has lost support. No North American schedule of unsupported Saniplus generations was found.

Saniflo gives a general estimated product life of 10 to 15 years or longer, citing 50,000-cycle testing (Saniflo FAQ blog). That is not a guaranteed lifespan or a replacement deadline. No whole-unit service-life figure for the Ascent II was found.

Check the warranty before buying parts. Saniflo’s US terms give two years from purchase. Two additional years require a purchase on or after January 1, 2023, registration within the first year and proof of purchase. Prior authorization is required, and disconnection and reconnection labor is excluded (Saniflo warranty). Liberty’s ordinary wholesale warranty is three years from purchase, with exclusions and repair restrictions. According to Liberty’s warranty page, batteries and Commercial Series models are excluded from that general duration (Liberty warranty).

Our own inference, not a source’s: if the unit is under warranty, or if you cannot identify its configuration, a call to the maker with your photos is cheaper than a wrong part.

What to Do Next

Photograph the label and the unit, write down the model, serial number and code, and match them to your country’s maker catalog before you order anything. For the wider picture, see our toilet repair hub.

Is the Saniplus membrane round or oval?

Saniflo’s French parts site identifies SI200184 as oval (SFA parts page). One dealer listing calls it round, which is likely an error. Whether one membrane fits every Saniplus generation is unresolved.

Is SA100125 the microswitch for every Saniflo?

No. Saniflo Canada lists it for the Saniplus and Saniaccess 3 (Saniplus, Saniaccess 3). Saniflo’s UK catalog lists SA100155 for the Saniaccess 2 and 3 (UK Saniaccess 2, UK Saniaccess 3), and the dealer UpFlushers lists SA100140 for the 2007–2012 Sanibest (UpFlushers Sanibest).

What is in Saniflo Service Kit 1, 2 or 3?

They are a UK dealer’s numbered packages, each with a switch, membrane, filter and clips. Their North American maker recognition was not found, so confirm fitment for your unit before ordering.

Can I use a Uniflo switch or membrane in a Saniflo?

Uniflo advertises its parts for named Saniflo models, but no Saniflo cross-reference confirms it. Treat that as a supplier claim and check your model.

Does a discontinued Sanistar still get parts?

Saniflo Canada still lists motor, capacitor, valve and board parts for the Sanistar (Saniflo Canada Sanistar catalog), even though a dealer and a Saniflo Product Expert answer on RONA call the unit discontinued (Sanistar replacement, RONA expert answer).
